Since the 1970s, Urtekram has been producing pure and natural body and hair care products, and from the very beginning we have been aware that the body absorbs whatever we apply to it just like it absorbs whatever we feed it.
Therefore, all Urtekram body and hair care products are:
- Certified organic by Ecocert.
- Free from hormonally active parabens and synthetic preserving agents.
- Made of vegetable ingredients (however, lip balm does contain beeswax).
- Free from petrochemical ingredients.
- Not tested on animals.

In addition:

Why Ecocert certification?
Unfortunately, there is no Danish or EU label for organic body care products in line with the Danish "Ø"-label used for foodstuff. Therefore, we have chosen to cooperate with Ecocert, which is the largest inspection body within this area, and - in our opinion - applies the strictest product requirements.

Inspection of ingredients, including their purity and origin:
- All raw materials must be free from pollution stemming from heavy metals, hydrocarbons, pesticides, dioxin, GMO (genetically modified organisms) and nitrate, and they must be processed by means of the simplest procedures possible.
- No less than 95% of the ingredients must be of a natural origin.
- No less than 95% of the product's plant-based elements must be organic.

It is forbidden to use:
- Synthetic colorants, synthetic preserving agents, synthetic fragrances, synthetic antioxidants and plasticising agents, synthetic oils and grease, ingredients stemming from the oil industry as well as silicone.
- Control of adherence to environmental regulations.
- Discharge cleansing, waste separation, ban on aggressive household chemicals.
- Animal testing is not allowed.
- Packaging must be free of contaminants and be recyclable (PVC, PS and multi-layer plastic are prohibited).

Labelling control
- The product label must state clearly how many of the ingredients are of a natural and organic origin.
