Characteristics:
The Ozoane cosmetic range has been developed in "La Gentilhommiere" donkey farm, in partnership with the "Emeraude" laboratories.
La Gentilhommiere's specificity is the elaboration of its products with fresh organic donkey milk.

History:
The Romans already used donkey milk for its therapeutic properties.
Cleopatra, queen of Egypt, took care of her great beauty and the youthfulness of her skin with donkey milk baths, and so did Nefertiti and Empress Poppaea, who travelled with her herds of 300 jennies with "gold shoes", to never have to go without this precious beverage.
Later, in the 19th century, in the streets of big cities, jennies would go through the streets, leds by merchants that informed of their presence by shouting "Donkey milk, good donkey milk!".
Elegant ladies drank this precious beverage regularly, whereas poor family only purchased it for a sick child or a weakened elder.
At the same time, the use of donkey milk developed in maternity hospitals. Jennies would easily feed infants, who drank directly from the udder.

The donkey farm:
For many species, the milk is available in a "cistern" located under the acini, and opened up by the teats.
During milking, this milk is immediately released by the emission of a hormone: oxytocin. This hormone is secreted by the animal under the action of certain stimuli: seeing the foal, hearing the sound of milking, voices and pleasant conditions...
Jennies don't have a "cistern", therefore it is difficult to obtain their milk. As it is not stored, there is little milk at a time. Jennies must be milked four to six times a day.
Béatrice Barthes has chosen not to raise one particular species, but to have a livestock with multiple sizes and colours.
Jennies being milked receive as much hay as they want, as well as a 4kg ration supplement each day (depending on the size of the jenny).

When the jennies are not being milked, they roam around the 24 acres of the farm.

During the winter, they receive hay harvested on the farm and a ration of sprouted cereals, as well as a complement suited to their gestation.
When the foals are separated from their mothers on milking days, they receive as much hay as they want and a supplement to their ration.
The milking can begin when the foal is a minimum of two months old, when it is old enough to feed on its own.
The rythm of milking is not daily, as to not disturb the growth of the foals.
With the 20 jennies in the donkey farm, milk flows all year long.
